Sew & Tell ~ October 24, 2022 ~the shingles edition :'(

I don't really have much to show this week since I, sadly, have been knocked on my hiney by a case of shingles...  😖

I snuck into my sewing room on Wednesday as I was waiting for my Rx to be filled and made a small maple leaf block and got a few pieces cut for more... and there they sit until I feel better. 😢

I have moved past the skin sensitivity and only went downhill from there.  Friday I did spend time, probably too MUCH time, working on the embroidered Bridal Veil...

So for now... I sit and binge.  Heartland, The Crown, Great British Baking Show... and anything else that may seem interesting.

I really had thought that I'd be seeing greater improvement by now.  Of course, as I read about cases lasting 3-5 weeks I was discouraged and believed that with the Rx and natural remedies I have been using I would be different.  *sigh*  I guess I am just "normal."  hahaha...

Show me your stuff!  Leave a comment... I need something different to do.

As I sipped on a hot cup of (Yogi) tea the other night I liked the saying on the tag... "Breathe in peace and breathe out blessings to all."  I like the idea of changing the spelling of peace to piece... It seems appropriate for a quilter. 😉

Keep Piecing,

  1. Awwww Melva, I'm sorry - I pray that you do heal quickly. The first time I watched the Great British Baking Show, I cried every time someone was eliminated, I was so involved with the bakers. I LOVE that show! Your bridal veil is so, so pretty.
I'll try to finish up my wedding quilt this week and post it here!

  2. Oh dear, I do hope you get some real relief soon Melva.

  3. Oh my, dear Melva, I'm praying for you! I had shingles just as we were going into lock down in March of 2020. I had sciatica at the same time and thought I had burned my skin on my heating pad. My doc did a phone visit and asked if we could get a pic so my DH took a pic and took to my doc's office and showed him and he called in an Rx for me. I was one of those that it took over four weeks and was on gabapentin (Neurontin) for over a year. I finally quit taking it. Just take care of yourself, take your meds and do what you want, when you can. That nerve pain is no fun. Sending you hugs, prayers and good thoughts.

  4. I’m so sorry. Shingles can be miserable. And you’ve reminded me that I need to get the vaccine.

  5. Hoping you feel much better soon. It isn't fun being laid up for a bit of time, but it is what causes us to heal.

  6. Your block looks happy!! So sorry to hear your down... hope they heal fast - not a fun experience!

  7. I'm sorry you're feeling poorly. I hope you recover faster than average. Your comments make me quite thankful that I was able to get vaccinated against shingles. I'd never heard of it before, but my doctor recommended I get it.

  8. I am so sorry you are not feeling well. I hope that the shingles will not last long. They can be so painful. Such pretty blocks you have been working on. Take care and thank you for hosting the link party.

  9. Oh I'm sorry to hear you have shingles, not much fun. You need lots of rest and hand work..... your embroidery is just stunning! Thanks for linking up with Monday This and That! xx

  10. I’m so sorry to hear you are not doing well. Please take care of yourself and take it easy.

  11. Good thing playing with fabric, needle and thread is still possible! Shingles are horrible--my outbreak lasted three weeks....I've had the vaccine though so hopefully will not get them again.

  12. Thanks for linking up with Monday Musings Melva!
