Calling Fabric Experts!

I love quilts!  I love making my own quilts but something that I consider a great privilege is to be able to finish someone else's quilt.

And this week, that is exactly what I am doing.

This one is a bit different because the top (hand pieced) really should have a border added.  But because the fabric is vintage, I feel that adding a modern-day fabric to it would be an injustice.

Do you feel the same?

The quilt top is full of imperfections, stains and some damage but the customer doesn't care!  She just wants it to be finished so that her kids have an heirloom from their Grandmother.

There is something charming about this quilt... I am using an 80/20 batting so that when it is finished and washed it will have a wrinkled "Comfy, old quilt" look.  I am doing a black binding.  Watch for the finished quilt :)

Can someone who has a better knowledge of fabric give me an idea of what era this is from?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Happy quilting!

The Final Count...

While I had hoped to entice a few people to follow my blog with a give away, I have come to realize that it doesn't really matter what size my audience is. Even if I had zero followers... I would still put my fingers to the keyboard and share.

I have come to realize that this blog is really more of a journal of sorts for me. This is a place to share my thoughts and ideas, quilts quilts and projects...

Total count of empty spools for 2015?
73!
That's what it took for the 25 quilts, a few table runners and other small miscellaneous projects!  As you can see my jar was overflowing :)  I obviously had lots of fun!

Speaking of fun... yesterday we returned home after a long weekend/business trip.  We spent some time with family, very special friends and made a few new ones along the way. Upon our return we find ourselves very, very tired!  We were in bed last night before 8 p.m. and slept for a glorious 10 hours!  And I can pretty much guarantee that we will have an early bedtime again tonight!

On the agenda for today?  Laundry and catching up on some paperwork.  Bleh.   Tomorrow???  I will be found in my studio.

Be blessed!

How Many Spools?

How many spools did I use in 2015????

Leave your guess in the comments and sign up to follow my blog.  The winner (the person who's guess is closest to the actual number of spools, without going over) will get a prize!

I have chosen one of the books from my collection of quilt books for the prize...

Guesses must be submitted by January 10.
The winner will be announced Monday, January 11.
