I can't believe we have turned our calendar pages to a new month! Where has the time gone? As I considered this question, I thought that I'd actually take a look back to discover (and remind myself) what all has been accomplished.
I completed or accomplished two of the goals I had on my list...
✔The Little House Sampler Quilt Sew Along
One of the goals of this sew along was to remove some of the "magic" or "mystery" of quilt math.
I think (maybe hope is a better word) that I was successful in doing that.
I know that not all quilters have an interest in resizing patterns and find it easier to go with the flow and leave it to someone else to do the paperwork and testing for them.
That's okay too! Here's a funny for you...

✔Tutorial for doing reverse applique as I made a NP block from Fiona Sandwich.
I did write up the tutorial... I'm not certain that it ever made it onto the Fiona Sandwich blog. Se la vie!
Rainbow Scrap Challenge continues...
I've played with a potential layout of my scrappy-wonky stars. Aqua is the color for July. I included a positive and negative of aqua when blue was the color of the month. I may add a few more, but probably not six as I have done each month up until now.
My collection of blocks for the Bookish Journey quilt is growing... despite the fact that there were only four made in June. I was busy with our daughter as she stayed with us for a week. I adored the time with her as we crafted and created throughout the week. You can see what we did here.
My week with her is what inspired to begin the 100-day project challenge. Each day this summer I am making it a goal to create something... it doesn't need to be the same medium or project for 100 consecutive days. That seemed not only a little boring, but daunting to me.
I'll continue through the rest of summer. Interested in seeing what I create and share? You can follow along on Instagram.
So far this year, I have had 11 finishes. The quilts vary in size from small table toppers to large throws. Two were commissioned quilts and the rest were either gifts or just for fun. My favorite (so far) is the Vintage Linen quilt made from dresser scarves made by my Grandma and aprons that were my Mom's.

It's fun to see what you've accomplished in the first half of the month, Melva! I really love your Bookish blocks, coordinating a 9 patch with the book cover - such a creative idea. Thank you, again for the prizes for the sew-along! You are so generous to do that. My year is going along nicely! There's been some travel, lots of good books, time spent with family and friends, and lots of sewing. All good!
ReplyDeleteCan you believe the year is half over? I can't. I don't feel like I've gotten much done craft/quilty-wise. We've been traveling for awhile and will continue thru the end of the month. I did get one quilt finished except for the binding. I'm working on summer projects from Villa Rosa quilts and "try" to cross stitch while traveling down our bumpy roads. What a neat idea to match quilt blocks to book covers. Never thought of that! Blessings!

ReplyDeleteThe year always seems to go by so quickly!! It's been full, but good. I never seem to finish as much quilting-wise as I hope, but I think I expect things to go more quickly than they do. 😂
ReplyDelete2 quilts as wedding gifts done. One more to finish before the end of the month and 2 more baby quilts to finish before fall. One baby quilt made and gifted. One of these days I hope to get back to some quilts for me.
Happy July, Melva. It is so hard to believe we are heading into the 2nd half of the year. I want to thank you again for the amazing sew along. I had so much fun and looked forward to each and every block. And I am so very grateful for the math lessons- I am math challenged. LOL. Your RSC Wonky stars is looking wonderful ; I really like how it layout on the wall so far. It is so good to hear you got to spend a week with your daughter- family time is precious isn't it. You've had a very productive year! That's a lot of finishes to be just halfway into the year. Writing instructions for a quilt along takes time, so to do all the rest is an accomplishment. Wishing you and equally productive second half of the year.
ReplyDeleteI would say the first half of 2026 has been pretty good overall. We were blessed to find a 1992 Ford F250 for an excellent price, and that has enabled us to clean up the storm damage we had at Christmas and to remove all the accumulated junk in the back yard. DH felt well through mid June, so we were able to get lots done this spring during my teaching break. A trip to Kansas for a memorial service provided an opportunity to spend time with our girls and extended family which was another blessing. In spite of the drought, the garden is hanging in, with the solar panels off setting the water bill. :) God is good. I am working on multiple projects…3 quilt tops and a Norwegian sweater, and they are all progressing well even with the weeding in the garden!
