Weekly Check-in! The first full week back in the studio and I am happy to share things went smoothly.
✔ Pieces from the Past BOM demonstration.
Quilter/participant Patti brought all of her blocks, completed to date, to share with the group. She is a fairly new quilter, but she has not been scared away by any of the techniques or more advanced blocks. I applaud her! 👏
✔ Orphan Quilt Finish shared on Friday.
So, this week...
❧ There were more than a dozen parts of t-shirts that did not fit on the front of the quilt. I have a layout in mind and fabric for the backing is on order. Until then...
❧ Finish quilting and binding of the Dreamscicle Quilt
❧ Write a few stories for the Pieces in the Garden Sew Along. Have you been working on your Bachelor Blocks? I'd love to see them! Share with me on facebook at Melva Loves Scraps or on instagram @MelvaLovesScraps and use these hashtags so that everyone can see your gardens grow!

❧ Celebrate my birthday with my family! I happened to have been born on Easter and this year my birthday is the day after Easter. We will be celebrating on Saturday though because it just works out better for everyone. I think a non-dairy, gluten-free cheesecake is in order 😁 And for those that may be wondering... yes! It really is possible.
What is your favorite way to celebrate your birthday?
Favorite dessert?
Favorite or special activity?
Leave a comment... I'd love to hear from you!
Keep Piecing,
Melva

Happy Birthday!! Lovely blocks, and T-shirt quilt. Enjoy a huge non-dairy and gluten-free birthday cake ;))
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, and linking up!
Happy early Birthday! We do a special dinner out at the birthday person's choice. Then dessert of choice. You made great progress last week. Hope this week is a great one as well.
ReplyDeleteMy sis in MD introduced the rest of us siblings on the west coast to celebrating ALL MONTH LONG. That way it is more fun, have a party with family. Another day meet with friends for a treat, dinner out with your special someone. Go to quilt shops!
ReplyDeleteLots of progress made this week! Happy Birthday a tad early! We used to celebrate with family gathered. Now we are all spread out from corner to corner of the USA. So not much celebrating is done. We did non-dairy gluten-free cheesecake one year. That’s how we found out granddaughter is also allergic to coconut! We live in a small retail market area, lots of trouble buying non-dairy cheese, sour cream, etc. Easier to do chocolate GF brownies with chocolate frosting! Her favorite!
ReplyDeleteYou got a lot done!! Did I already say that I love the bachelor blocks? Have a Happy Early Birthday celebration! xx
ReplyDeleteGood looking memory quilt
ReplyDeleteThat memory quilt looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Melva! Besides the cheesecake, are you cooking for your birthday, or is everyone bringing food? I meant to comment on your Orphan quilt, you must be a really fast hand quilter, and the stitches look great.
My Daddy had a birthday 8 days earlier than mine, so we started on his birthday and celebrated through mine. :) My Mom always made yellow cake with chocolate frosting for me, and it is my favorite to this day.
I forgot to say - thank you for sharing with To Do Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting week with so much accomplished! Happy birthday. I hope it was lovely. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
