Lala's Quilted!

I've done it!  It took hours and hours and hours and so much thread... BUT... Lala's Scrappy Irish Chain Quilt is finished!

I was questioning my decision to quilt it "just as Lala did" before I was even half-way finished.

I was too far in to change my mind and yet soooooo far from the finish line.

I kept telling myself, "It will all be worth it in the end."

And I was not lying to myself!  I adore it!  My sore arms and back will recover with the assistance from our hot tub.

And though the quilting is done... I still need to get the binding done and then there are those dastardly tails of thread.  I'll not complain since I will be sitting in different position and a different chair.

928 two-inch squares were outlined... 32 setting squares outlined and quilted with daisies...

And with each one, I get just a step closer.  I was entertained with several audio books, but by the farm scenes, animals and butterflies as I stitched every line.

But honestly, it went on and on and on!

I'm doing a little happy dance right now but will soon be back in the studio prepping the binding.  I may have to work a little magic to get the binding out of the blue fabric.  Fingers crossed... I'll have just enough!

Check back with me on Monday to see if I had success.

Keep Piecing,

Melva

  1. Your quilting looks terrific and yes, your body will recover with some rest and likely just in time to put it through its paces when you bind it! Well done! It sure looks great on the bed!

  2. She's so pretty, Melva! That is a lot of time spent quilting, but so glad you feel like it was worth it. Have fun stitching the binding! I have my big Pfaff back from the spa, so I can get back to my quilting queue, too. I need to finish my Little House quilt, plus the mini Lala. There's always something to work on around here!

  3. All that machine quilting was challenging but your version of Lala's quilt is beautiful! Your grandmother would be proud and honored that you reproduced her quilt.
