Friday's Fabulous Finish

Once I got into the groove after a day at home catching up on mail, laundry and life in general, I hit pace and didn't look back!

I'm on a roll!

The baby quilt top is ready for applique of initials and the family's brand.

The visit to my closest fabric source (wally-world) was fruitful, but frustrating as I had to wait for almost 15 minutes for someone to show up to cut fabric.

It is a situation that I often face when I go there... thus my number one reason for avoiding the place like the plague (or the virus?).  None the less, I got home and got down to business right away.

The fact that the top measures 42" x 48" and the blocks are 6-1/2" squares and HSTs meant that it was together in no time!

The table topper binding is done and the final line of quilting around the border of the quilt was finished as I enjoyed the Great British Baking show last night.  The table is set and I am ready for tea on this cold and snowy day!  Who wants to join me??? 🙋

Quilting on snowy days are some of the best days!

What's the weather like in your neighborhood?

Leave a comment... I'd love to hear from you!

Stay warm and keep piecing,

Melva

  1. Hi Melva. I have to go to Wally World also if I need/want anything. We don't have a fabric store close by. There is never anyone helping in the fabric department since they built the new store. You have to go over to the fishing department and get them to measure what you need. I like the fabric that they have here now. It is a better quality.
We are supposed to get some snow here tomorrow---our first. Everyone is really excited or they were. Now they are saying we will get ice after the snow. That I don't like. I had been looking forward to getting out and playing in the snow since we so seldom get any. The ice will just ruin everything. LOL Awww-maybe next time. Have a great weekend!

  2. In the time you had to wait for the fabric to be cut, you could've had it done and checked out, right? I rarely go there for anything these days. That table topper is a pretty one. We had a storm yesterday, bringing blustery winds and leaving about 4 inches of snow.

  3. It's always nice to go away but also nice to come home and get back into a routine! I keep hearing about people finding great closeout sales in their Walmart, I haven't found anything in the ones I visit.

  4. It's pouring down snow here this morning, and as you said it's a great day for quilting. Love your table topper!

  5. Waiting in a store is not confortable, but since it's a fabric store, there are a lot of things to look for ;))
Lovely baby quilt, and table runner.
Thank you for linking up this week with TGIFF ;)

  6. I love your chevron baby quilt, Melva! It's been unseasonably warm the past couple of months here in Charlotte, NC, but they are predicting an actual SNOW STORM for us this weekend. Usually a Carolina "snow storm" means panicked hoarding of milk and toilet paper the night before followed by icy roads, dandruff on the lawns, and the entire city shut down for the "weather emergency." :-)

  7. Your chevron baby quilt is so pretty! I like your use of color. Your table looks cozy with that beautiful topper and tea! Our weather is cold and dry with warmer afternoons. I am ready for San Diego weather!

  8. Your table topper is terrific. I think businesses everywhere are having a tough time keeping employees and having enough to serve customers. It's cold and foggy here today; but, I like it better than the pouring rain we have had the previous three days!
